Strumming Up a Good Time

Junior student Hubiquel Ocampo and five other students are forming a new club which will be in charge of teaching and playing guitars.

Guitar club will be having meetings every two Mondays in room 2513.

“We have three teachers, but we also just kind of show up just to hang out and to play and to help people get rid of that fear of playing in front of other people,” Ocampa said. He’s the guitarist who brought the whole club to life.

It came as an idea to Ocampa when he brought his guitar to class. When he was asked to play a few songs, a lot of people thought his skills were great and they told him to make a guitar club.

From bass guitars to acoustics, from no experience to experts, they all have a place. Just make sure to have your own guitar to play once you show up. And in case you were wondering what to do with your guitar, you can always carry it around at school or drop it off in room 2513 for the day.

The Guitar Club carried at least 17 people into the club by the start up until January 11.

But at the first meeting the teachers were met with a big surprise with up to almost a whole classroom.

But knowing this is a newly formed group at Langham, they could possibly grow in popularity the more people hear about it.

This is only for the future, but guitar club is also planning on playing at local places that are public, like churches and malls once they become more open to opportunities.
