Texans 2018 Season Prediction

Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 9, at New England Patriots, 12 pm C.T.

To start the season, the Texans play against one of the toughest teams in one of the toughest venues in the NFL.  And in Deshaun Watson’s first game back from an ACL tear, I expect some rust to show in his 2018 debut. All in all I think this one will be close, but the Texans lose the first game of the season. 17-24 Patriots

Record: 0-1

Week 2:  Sunday, Sept. 16, at Tennessee Titans, 12 pm C.T.

The Texans second road match up in a row comes against an emerging Titans team who are consistently average to good over the course of any given year.  However, the Texans face our former defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel and our familiarity with his defensive schemes and coaching style will give the Texans the advantage. 31-20 Texans

Record: 1-1

Week 3: Sunday, Sept. 23, vs. New York Giants, 12 pm C.T.

The Giants won a grand total of 3 games in 2017 and although they had many devastating injuries that plagued them throughout the season, the Giants are still very bad. Also, with this game being the Texans home opener, I’m predicting a blowout in this one. 10-45 Texans

Record: 2-1

Week 4: Sunday, Sept. 30, at Indianapolis Colts, 12 pm C.T.

The Colts will be exceptionally better with the return of franchise quarterback Andrew Luck but they still have many holes in their lineup that have yet to be filled.  With that said, I trust in the Texans to take this game and get a leg up on their division rivals. 13-24 Texans

Record: 3-1

Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 7, vs. Dallas Cowboys, 7:20 pm C.T.

The Texans first prime time game undoubtedly will reignite the Houston/Dallas rivalry in the NFL.  With the Cowboys seemingly winning just 8 games every year and with the release of their number 1 receiver in Dez Bryant, the Texans should win this game handily. 24-42 Texans

Record: 4-1

Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 14, vs Buffalo Bills, 12 pm C.T.

Buffalo and Houston both have decent defensive units which puts them pretty even.  However, the Bills have no offensive playmakers except for the washed up LeSean McCoy.  This should be an easy one at NRG Stadium. 9-30 Texans

Record: 5-1

Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 21, at Jacksonville Jaguars, 12 pm C.T.

The Texans have only lost twice in the past 4 seasons, all of which came last year when the Jags ended up winning the division in an out-of-nowhere type of season and one of those games the Texans didn’t have Deshaun Watson at QB.  However the Jags are still a very talented team and I expect the Texans winning streak to come to an end in this division matchup. 27-36 Jaguars

Record: 5-2

Week 8: Thursday, Oct. 25, vs. Miami Dolphins, 7:25 pm C.T.

The Dolphins will not have their best receiver this year as Jarvis Landry was traded to the Browns.  With this in mind, the Dolphins all together are one of the worst teams in the league so this should be a pretty straight forward victory for Houston. 6-30 Texans

Record: 6-2

Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 4, at Denver Broncos, 3:05 pm C.T.

This week the Texans visit Denver Colorado to face the Broncos and former quarterback Case Keenum.  Last season, Keenum impressed as the signal-caller for the Vikings and led them to a shot at the super bowl but fell just short in the playoffs.  Despite Keenum’s recent success, he won’t beat his former team. 27-17 Texans

Record: 7-2

Week 10: Bye Week

Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 18, at Washington Redskins, 12 pm C.T.

The Redskins have a fresh face at QB in Alex Smith, a veteran in the NFL and a solid addition to any team that has him on their roster.  However, they don’t have very many playmakers other than Smith and with the Texans fresh and rested after the bye week should take this one in Washington. 24-17 Texans

Record: 8-2

Week 12: Monday, Nov. 26, vs. Tennessee Titans, 7:15 pm C.T.

At this point in the 2018 NFL season, this division matchup could be the deciding factor for a playoff spot for the AFC South.  That being said, I think this game will be a close one but the Texans will still get this crucial victory at home. 30-34 Texans

Record: 9-2

Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 2, vs Cleveland Browns, 12 pm C.T.

Let’s get real here for a second. The Browns are the worst franchise I have ever seen in my life and have been the laughing stock of the NFL for the better part of a decade. The Texans winning streak will definitely continue in this week 13 matchup. 10-50 Texans

Record: 10-2

Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 9, vs. Indianapolis Colts, 12 pm C.T.

A key to winning the division in the NFL is winning games against the division rivals.  That said, this is a must win in order to keep up with the Jaguars who will surely continue on from last years success.  I believe the Texans take this home matchup. 17-23 Texans

Record: 11-2

Week 15: Saturday, Dec. 15, at New York Jets, TBD

The Jets are terrible, there isn’t much else to say about this game other than the Browns and Jets seem to be competing for worst record in the league every single year. Texans take this one with ease. 34-14 Texans

Record: 12-2

Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 23, at Philadelphia Eagles, 12 pm C.T.

Unfortunately for Texans fans, the winning streak comes to an end when the Texans matchup against the defending Super Bowl Champions.  The Eagles are a very good team and the Texans can’t be expected to win every game. This will be a close one however as the Eagles take this one at home.  24-27 Eagles

Record: 12-3

Week 17: Sunday, Dec. 30, vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, 12 pm C.T.

The Texans seemingly play their best football when we play the Jags at home in Houston.  And this performance won’t be any different as the Texans take this season finale matchup. 20-30 Texans

Record: 13-3

The Texans, I believe, will have the best season in franchise history and can actually contend for a Super Bowl in 2018.  The talent is there, the leadership is there, and the will to win and succeed is there.  For the Texans fans reading this,  I would not be surprised if you see the Texans playing in the big game in February.
