Prom has come and gone for the class of 24, and that also means that dress-up days are no more for the seniors while in high school. The dress-up days were: meme day, cartoon characters, rhyme with no reason, throwback to 2020, and spirit day.
Throughout the week, it looked like no more than 10-20 seniors dressed up for the respective dress-up day. Why is this? Are seniors tired? Or was the dress-up theme too complex for this late in the year?
“I feel the themes they chose were not a very easy thing to have a mass group of people dress up as,” senior Shepard Pedigo said.
Pedigo was an avid participant in dressing up during the football season, but prom week was something he was not enthusiastic about.
“The themes were butt,” Pedigo said. “I don’t care, quote me.”
Additionally, some of the themes seemed repetitive and outdated with themes such as cartoon character day and rhyme with no reason.
“No one was excited for the same, old worn themes,” senior Bella Martinez said.
One of the newer themes was “throwback to 2020”. Why 2020? Why should we want to throwback to one of the worst years the planet has had in our lifetimes?
Additionally, some said that there was not enough time to prepare for the themes, with only 2 school days to think of ideas and execute them.
Overall, the prom week themes had the right idea behind dressing up, it was just a matter of pushing the themes out to the public with enough time and having unity among the senior class.
