The class is not only big high school kids but… little preschool kids too.
Considering what classes to take can be hard since there are so many choices and decisions. The first step is finding out what there is to know about your options.
Daycare Director and Supervisor is a class consisting of preschool care three days a week and lesson planning on Mondays and Fridays.
“[It] teaches kids the love of teaching in general, and to love kids … to accept each individual child in the class, and hopefully carry on in their lives one day,” Head Teacher Jeri Hooker said.
Each class has its own specific lesson to teach. It’s up to you to decide your path.
“It would help you gain experience with working with kids for one,” Hooker said. “This class also requires students to be trained and certified in CPR. One of the things that really carries over in life is time management. Students have to really be able to manage their time well for planning lessons and executing them, finding a sub if they are sick. It’s like real life.”
Some skills are certificates you own. Other skills are the experiences you gain. Both are priceless.
“This class is something I actually enjoy doing and it’s fun,” senior Taylor Gownley said. “It’s fun to learn about, and the teacher Mrs. Hooker is also pretty cool. I do want to work in this field. That is what inspired me to take this class.”
Sometimes all it takes is a little inspiration, or sometimes you can just enjoy being there.
“If I could take this class again I would,” senior Gabriela Romero said. “I don’t know, I never imagined myself working with kids, but having this class and being able to do that was really fun.”
Deciding classes depends on your interests, personality, and what you yourself find most rewarding.
“Making the kids smile and when they remember my name [is what I find most rewarding in this class],” Romeo said.
Always look at a little bit of background information and clues as to if you would enjoy the class or not before deciding. It all starts with you.
