As the year comes to an end, students are growing tired and becoming burnt out. However, our amazing fine arts programs have given their students a break, taking them to various cities/states.
While some Fine Arts decided an out of state trip would be best, Band decided a short road trip to Dallas would suffice. The program had a blast at the Dallas Aquarium and at Six Flags Dallas.
“It was really fun,” sophomore Sebastian Alvarez said. “My favorite memory was going on one of the rides, and my friend, Sonny, passed out.”
Choir travelled across state borders and ended up in Memphis, Tennessee, a historically musical city. Students visited many old sights and learned about animals, history and music.
“It was a really cool trip,” senior Alex Villegas said. “We got to go to the place where MLK died and also Elvis’ house. It was very interesting and heartbreaking reading all the stories in the Civil Rights Museum.”
After visiting such museums, Choir had some adventures at the Memphis Zoo, a Mississippi boat ride and the worlds largest Bass Pro Shop.
“We did a lot,” senior Emily Salinas said. “My favorite activity was probably the zoo and seeing all the animals. I also really loved walking around Beale Street. I spent a lot of money and got a lot of souvenirs for my family and I.”
Orchestra originally planned to go out of state as well, but unfortunately the program was not able to. However, Orchestra did not forget about their students. Instead of going to Colorado, students had a staycation.
“Our trip was to Andretti’s as a replacement,” senior Kamilah Ramirez said. “My favorite part was checking out the arcade games.”
Andretti’s is an indoor karting and games arcade. It includes food, laser tag, go-karts and lots of fun. Students got to hang out with each other for hours, and for students like Ramirez, it would be their last time.
“The experience was unforgettable,” Ramirez said. “There was a moment when I took it all in and realized that was it. There will be no more trips or memories to make, but I’ll always have the ones I already have and I am so grateful to have attended and made the best of our trip.”
