STAAR Questions
It is that time in the year when the STAAR Tests are fastly approaching. The stress starts to kick in at the thought of having to sit at a desk for five hours while taking a state test.
The freshmen and sophomores were required by the state to take the English STAAR Test that included writing essays, bubbling in answers and writing short answer responses. English I was on Tuesday, March 28th; English II was on Thursday March 24th. Teachers were striving to prepare the students in what felt like a short amount of time. The teachers found it difficult to prepare the students since spring break was awkwardly placed halfway through their “bootcamp”.
“I feel attacked at how close STAAR Test was so close to spring break because you guys forgot everything you learned, but I’m not worried about you guys,” Susan Miller, English II Teacher said.
Despite everything though, the teachers felt confident in their students although the students may have had other thoughts on the test. For some it is the time where they feel like ripping their hair out and others just want to take it to get it over with. Other students don’t really care about the test and just want to get it over with.
“I don’t want to take it since I feel confused but I always do well on them so I’m not worried,” sophomore Galilea Mora said.
Sophomores this will be your last English STAAR Test. Freshmen, one more year and you’ll be done with the test too.
