Running for a Cause
Running might not seem like anything more than good exercise, but for our school’s Key Club it’s going to be a great way to raise money and volunteer.
Key club is hosting their first ever Cypress Ten marathon fundraiser this Sunday the 8th. It will be held at the Prima Outlet Malls.
“Were gonna go to the outlet mall at 5:45 in the morning and were going to split the officers into groups to help checking people in or helping people set up or helping them across the course,” senior president of Key Club Kelly Peters said.
The Cypress Ten marathon fundraiser gives money to the organization based on how many volunteers help out.
“We organized this event because it’s a good way to raise money we earn money based on the number of volunteers we get to go we have about 45 members going” junior officer in Key Club Catherine Nguyen said.
Key club will be using these funds for future volunteering and to send their members to leadership conferences.
“We’re able to send our members to future district and state conventions for leadership,” Nguyen said.
Key club is all about helping the community. Though it has some differences from other volunteering focused clubs.
“I don’t really do much, I just take the credit,” Key Club sponsor Mr. Millstein said. “The club is entirely student-run in their food drives and volunteer work. I don’t push anything on them.”
