Pick up a Date for Valentine’s Day

Have you seen the plain red books in the library windows lately? Have you wondered what they are or why they’re all wrapped up?

Those are Blind Book Dates, and each one is a secret adventure just waiting to happen.

“Come to the library, choose a blind date, check it out and become acquainted with the book. Then fill out the Rate the Date card and turn it in for a drawing,” Librarian Ms. Jones said.

Any student can check one out and turning in your rating of the book you got will put you in for a chance to win an Amazon or a Starbucks gift card. But even if you choose not to rate and review, you still get to read the book and eat the Hershey’s Kiss that comes along with it.

The books come in a mix of genres, specially picked by the library staff.

“This year we focused on new titles to the library,” Jones said. “But in the past we’ve had book club members choose their favorite books. It’s definitely not random.”

Blind Book Dates is on its 3rd year running and originally came from Pinterest. Now, the library is filled with red books ready for checkout.

“I think we wrapped 50, but we’ll continue to wrap books if we run out,” Jones said.

This Valentine’s Day, don’t stress about relationships and expensive presents. Instead, get set up with a book, kick back and relax. And every date ends with a kiss!
