NBA Rookie Of The Year?
Rookie of the year this, rookie of the year that! Nobody knows who the rookie of the year is going to be yet, but people have their opinions. There are a lot of rookies who are in the rookie candidate race but the main 2 rookies that people are talking about and the top 2 are Ben Simmons of the 76ers and Donovan Mitchell of the Jazz.
The rookie Ben Simmons for the 76ers is a great player, don’t get me wrong, people say that he is the Baby Lebron and he does resemble Lebron James in the way he plays. Ben Simmons passion, work ethic and his confidence is at an all time high but he already had a year in the league to soak up the games on the bench and get great advice from other NBA players. He averaged in the regular season 15 PPG 8 RPG 8 APG, thats very good for a rookie, he plays Point Guard at the height at 6’10, but don’t forget this is his 2nd year.
Donovan Mitchell on the other hand is a REAL rookie, this is his first year in the NBA and he’s putting up numbers that are pretty insane. He’s very crafty and never afraid of the challenge. They call him the “Spider” and he has lived up to that name. Donovan Mitchell has been leading his team to the playoffs and don’t forget that he won the 2018 NBA Dunk Contest. Mitchell has averaged very good numbers as a rookie with 21 PPG 4 RPG 4 APG, as you can see by his stats he is a scorer, his highest scoring game is 44 points.
These are 2 very good rookies that are catching everybody’s eyes, even the NBA veterans. They’re throwing shots at each other in the playoffs, Mitchell wearing a hoodie that says “Rookie” on it and Simmons saying he sees no other rookie that stood out to him. The NBA playoffs should be very interesting this year. Donovan Mitchell should win it only because he’s an actual rookie, he didn’t have a year of soaking up the game like Ben Simmons, but don’t get me wrong, Simmons is a very good player.
