Tunes Review: ECOSMITH

Bandmates and siblings Sydney, Noah, and Graham on the cover of their new single “Over My Head”.

Pop trio Echosmith released their newest single “Over My Head” on March 16, 2018.  The group, who released their last album “Talking Dreams” back in 2013,  have made a much anticipated return. “Over My Head” is their lead single off their upcoming album “Inside a Dream.”

The song is an easygoing, dreamy pop, that has much of the same musical vibes as their triple platinum hit “Cool Kids” did in 2013. Lead singer Sydney says, “This song was written out of pure frustration with another person who couldn’t make up his mind. That indecision was affecting us, so the message is, ‘Good luck finding yourself. Goodbye. I have to move on with my life regardless of your opinion.’ It’s a bit darker for us, but I think a lot of people can relate to that.”

With its repeated title,  synth-driven chorus and addicting melody, fans are sure to enjoy it all summer. Along with the song, the band also released a music video. The video features the lead singer Sydney, and a guy who seems to not care about her anymore. The video was pretty cliche, yet it was fun and colorful.

Since forming in 2009, the sibling trio have preformed thousands of sold out shows across America. Their newest album “Inside a Dream”, which includes “Over my Head”, is set to release later this summer.  I would rate this song a 6 out of 10.
