Lobos Rout Cy Park, Secure Play-Off Spot

Last Friday, the varsity football team defeated Cy Park in their first ever varsity match up, securing a spot in the play-offs with the win. The game was a rout from the very beginning as the Lobos led 25-2 after the 1st quarter. The Lobos established the passing attack early with a pair of deep passes to Gerald Arline III resulting in gains of 59 and 46 yards paving the way for the ground game. That was led by senior running back Rashaun Hammonds who toted the rock 5 times for 43 yards and a season high 4 touchdowns. Along with Hammonds, was sophomore Kash McCray who ran 10 times for a game high 83 yards and 1 touchdown.

In addition to the offense controlling the game, the defense dominated forcing 5 turnovers, with safety Corien Azema cashing in the only interception of the night for a 51-yard touchdown.

Special teams were also well executed, with junior corner back  Keyshawn Leblanc returning a blocked punt for a touchdown. Junior kicker, Everett Ornstein also added 6 touch backs on kick-offs.

In the end the Lobos dismantled the Tigers 59-2 all the while locking up a spot in the playoffs.
