TeenBookCon
Attention passionate high school readers! On Saturday, March 30th, the Teen Book Convention will be held in League City, Texas.
TeenBookCon, a huge annual get-together for all fans of reading, will be hosted at Clear Springs High School, a school in Clear Creek ISD.
“TeenBookCon is an opportunity for authors to all gather in one place in the Houston area, and then invite their fans and readers to come and get to know them and let them promote their newest books,” Librarian Mrs. Jones said.
Next to some new authors, who promote their very first book, some more well known authors from all over America will be a part of the TeenBookCon.
“The author of The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas was there the year her book came out and will be there this year again, as well as Veronica Roth (author of the Divergent series), ” Mrs. Jones said.
Langham offers to go to the convention for the third time this year. For the students, who already went, the autograph session is one of their favorite parts.
“Listening to the authors talk about how they developed their story, that was the best part,” Teen Book Club member Nadine Ineza said.
For other students, this will be the first book convention to attend. Those avid reading students are excited for this big upcoming event.
“I can’t wait to meet all the authors that are going to be there and to spend all day with my club friends,” Sophomore Sarah Warring said.
For the next two years, TeenBookCon will be hosted at a Cypress Fairbanks high school, but to this date it is still unknown which school. For Mrs. Jones, this will be a great way of spreading TeenBookCon to readers who are not in her club.
“I think it is a great opportunity and I am going to try and be better, especially in Cy-Fair next year, of promoting Teen Book Con to the entire school and not just my book club, because I think there are a lot of students that may not participate not in Book Club, but will just freak out in having an opportunity of going.”
TeenBookCon will be a huge get together of readers from all over the Houston area. It opens at 9 am and will stretch over the whole day. There is no admission fee.
