Michael Hoehner celebrates after being crowned “Mr. Lobo 2016” on stage Saturday Jan. 23.

Who exactly is the man behind Mr. Lobo? The man that warmed your hearts and entertained you so much that you made sure he won that title, who is Michael Hoehner? Michael Hoehner is what you would call ‘The perfect student’. This senior is the captain of the football and baseball team as well as an active member in NHS and FCA.

Obviously, the idea of tackling challenging and superior positions is not something that fazes Michael very much, but Mr. Lobo is a whole new ball game as you perform in front of your graduating class and many more.

“We did a lot of practice. We had to make a table, and we had to get our costumes right, and we had to find guys that would help us do the act so it was a lot of hard work to prepare,” Michael Hoehner said. Hoehner’s act for Mr. Lobo was nothing short of weird as you see multiple guys playing extreme ping pong in a Matrix style. Throughout the act, with great enthusiasm, there never a dull moment.

“I didn’t really have a lot of options, I’m not a singer, not a dancer so I decided to do something that was kinda funny. I got the idea from YouTube and when I saw it I was like oh dang pretty sweet deal,” Michael Hoehner said.

The idea behind Mr. Lobo is that whichever senior boy wants to have one last hurrah before they graduate is to create one last fun memory. Though you risk the idea of humiliating yourself to no end, it does not stop seniors from participating.

As I have said before Michael is not one to shy away from challenges and risks, but additionally Mr. Lobo holds a closer tie to him than any of the other contestants.

“Uh well my brother actually won Mr. Lobo in 2010 so I kinda had to get out of his shadow,” Michael Hoehner said.

So not only was Michael great before, but now he’s even better being a grade A student and Langham’s newest Mr. Lobo. Sadly though, this is his last year before going off and striving for better, we can only hope to have another Mr. Lobo like the fantastic Michael Hoehner next year.
