Nick’s Take: Spider-Man Far From Home Trailer
From his very first appearance in Captain America Civil War to his latest movie, Avengers Endgame, Spider Man’s reputation has grown in kids and adults. Fan’s were screaming, jumping around, and some even speechless when he was first announced in the second trailer of the third Captain America installment. Spider-Man Homecoming acted as his introduction into the MCU, and now marvel is yet again casting the light on everyone’s favorite web-slinger on the big screen.
Spoiler Warning (Avengers Endgame)
After the events of Avengers Endgame, it was sad to see some of our favorite superheros end their career in the MCU. Who could be left that could keep the MCU going? A month before the release of Endgame, President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, announced that there will be a second installment to the Spider-Man series. MCU fans are so hyped that they’re even calling Spider-Man the next Iron Man after Tony Stark passed on the throne after his death in Endgame.
This new movie, Spider-Man Far From Home, takes place after the events of Endgame. According to IMDb, Peter Parker and a group of his friends take a European vacation where Peter hopes to relax for once. Soon enough, he finds himself working with Nick Fury to help stop a group of elemental creatures from wreaking havoc across the continent with the help of newcomer Mysterio, played by Jake Gyllenhaal.
Finally getting to see one of Spider-Man’s original foes is spectacular in the Spider-Man movie series. In the latest trailer Jake Gyllenhaal, Mysterio, mentions he is from Earth, but not our Earth. This could be hinting at the multiverse and we could soon be seeing appearances from other Spider-Men like Miles Morales, and Spider-Women such as Spider Gwen, 2099 Spider-Man, and possibly even Spider-Ham.
In the latest Spider-Man film, Spider-Man Homecoming, there was an end credit scene of two of Spider-Man’s other foes discussing how they have a group of guys who would want to take care of Spider-Man. This could possibly lead up to the Sinister Six, a group of Spider-Man’s biggest enemies. Also, two of the original members of the Sinister Six have been seen in the MCU franchise, Vulture and Mysterio. Introducing this group of villains could really gain a lot of attention to the series.
What interests me the most is how the MCU is taking on the role of Mysterio. He is known to be one of Spider-Man’s most mysterious enemies, and by the look of the trailer he seems to be more of a friend to Spider-Man rather than a foe. My guess is Mysterio is controlling the elementals and he is pursuing the roll of a hero to get the fame.
According to Geoff Boucher from Deadline, Spider-Man Far From Home was the biggest digital trailer launch in Sony Pictures Entertainment history with 135.2 million views in 24 hours. Spider-Man Far From Home releases in theaters July 2, 2019.
