Boys Varsity Soccer Report

Boys Varsity Soccer have had a shaky start this season but are practicing a lot and got their first win this season against Cy-Fair. Practicing from 2:30-4 pm shows how much work they are putting in. There’s around 30 boys in varsity giving Coach Lane many choices as some of these players have different strengths, but at the end of the day they play the sport they love.

Nathan Diaz, 11th, has been in Varsity for 2 years, he has been playing soccer since he was just 6 years old. He started playing at the YMCA and from there on soccer was the sport he loved. He plays centerback and will also play mid if needed.

Although the games have been hard for the Lobos, they got their first win and are ready to start a winning streak. “We’ve tied 3 and lost 1 so far, but there’s plenty of games left for us to come back and make the playoffs,” Diaz said.

Dorian Zarate, 11th, has also played varsity soccer for 2 years, getting his start in the game when he was ten. Playing center defensive mid is a very tough role, but Dorian can play any defensive and midfield role because he’s a very strong player.

The varsity roster, being as big as it is, shows how big of an advantage the Lobos have against other schools. This is great for Coach Lane because every single player is going to push themselves to be on the starting eleven. “Having so many people really makes the team better cause we communicate with each other more, which is amazing for the team,” Dorian said.

There’s still a lot of games for the Lobos to begin their winning streak and are also very excited for the rest of the season. TheLobos will take on Cy Falls this Saturday at 2pm for the chance to get their 2nd win of the season.
