The auditorium is silent as everyone sits on the edges of their seats, anticipating the announcement of the winners. The talent show had just wrapped up and it was time to distribute the awards. Finally, the 1st place winner is revealed: “Alexandra Johnson!”

Junior Alexandra Johnson performed a vocal and piano act at the Lobo X Talent Show on November 15. She sang Love in the Dark by Adele while accompanying herself on the piano. Out of the 12 participants in the show, Johnson managed to bring home the crown for 1st place.

“I’ve been singing since I was really little, and I’ve been playing piano for two and a half years,” Johnson said. 

Despite her experience from the past, the musician was still anxious to sing in front of an audience.

“I was so nervous,” Johnson said. “I never performed on the stage before.”

Watching the competition made it difficult to settle her nerves.

“The more and more I saw [the other performers], I was like ‘Okay, I’m not gonna win’,” Johnson said. “They’re really good; I’m not gonna win.”

However, Alexandra proved herself wrong by achieving 1st place in the talent show.

“When they said I won, I was so shocked,” Johnson said. “I didn’t believe it.”

This experience gave her an important lesson that she can apply to her own life in the future.

“[I learned] that I can do things that I put my mind to,” Johnson said.

Lobo X was overall a great opportunity for Alexandra to showcase her talents for the first time.

“[My favorite part was] the new experience and getting to do it,” Johnson said. “I would audition again next year; it was fun.”
