Get ready to wake up with a fresh and exciting twist on your morning routine as our morning welcomes new announcers! Every year the office allows the senior class to apply to read the morning announcements. This year 8 lucky students were chosen: Cindy Ramos Parada, Troy Bierria, Mason Hernandez, Riley Clede-Conger, Karsyn Yates-Landor, Tristan Chambers, Eileen Ngyuen, and Carter Smith.
“It was not easy because of how many people applied this year and I really had to crack down on who I was going to choose,” Associate Principal Ms. Nolen said. “I checked everything from schedule, grades, and record to narrow it down.”
Clede-Conger expressed how she wanted to make her last year filled with pack pride and what is better than being the first voice heard on the intercom!
“I signed up for the morning announcements not only because it just sounds really fun, but because I feel like it allows me to interact with Langham more as a whole,” Clede-Conger said.
Many seniors wanted to do something they had never done, but this wasn’t the case for Bierria. Bierria mentioned how in Kindergarten he was selected to read the news for his entire school and he wanted to feel that nostalgia again.
“I used to do the announcements in elementary and it would be presented to the whole school on the rolling TV’s,” Bierria said. “I wanted to relive it again for my last year of school.”
Although the hard part might seem over to some, new worries arise. Clede-Conger realized that now she actually has to be on the intercom and read pages of announcements to the whole building.
“I am most afraid of slipping up my words and accidentally saying something embarrassing or inappropriate,” Clede-Conger said.
The recognition and the memories created during senior year are the main ones people tend to never forget.
“Getting told that you’re the reason why they started their day off in a bright way is why it’s nice to be able to give that to certain seniors,” Ms.Nolen said. “Being able to be that recognized voice in the halls gives you a special memory for senior year.”
