 Houston’s Museum district is an association of twenty museums, galleries, cultural centers and community organizations dedicated to displaying art, history, science and culture. Almost all of the museums located here in Houston are open to the public for free and some offer free entry times during certain days of the week.  For younger children Houston has The Children’s Museum of Houston which was voted America’s number one children’s museum by Parents Magazine. The Children’s Museum is dedicated to transforming communities through ingenious styles of learning and vigorous activities that spark a lifelong interest of learning in all children.

 On the other hand, Houston incorporates the interests of young adults by providing a variety of options such as The Houston Center of Photography, The Museum of Natural Science, Lawndale Art Center, and The Health Museum. These museums are made to spark the interest of devolving minds and to offer an experience that will take visitors on a journey outside of their everyday lives.

 Houston offers learning experiences for adults as well. Places such as the Rothko Chapel which is an independent institution that is a sacred place open to all people, everyday. The Chapel provides a tranquil meditative environment inspired by an American painter, Mark Rothko. The Chapel accommodates over 60,000 visitors a year. People from any faith and from all over the world are offered a safe haven purely intended for the opening of one’s mind and spirit. Houston also offers The Menil Collection which displays priceless art from Artists such as Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali. The artwork is changed every few months to incorporate a sense of variety.
