Habitat for Humanity Bake Sale
The Habitat for Humanity club raised over $500 at their annual bake sale on Saturday, November 12 at Ace Hardware on Barker Cypress. They put together the fundraiser to collect money for their spring projects.
“Next semester, we plan to build houses for numerous victims of natural disaster,” Club President Gabriela Cauton said.
They raised a record amount of money by selling various types of cookies, cakes, and brownies. Club Historian Ayse Erdemir can typically be found working at the brownie table or holding an advertisement sign.
“The bake sales are great,” Erdemir said. “I enjoy talking to the customers and informing them of what we do and how we help the community. It gives them the spirit to support our cause.”
The community came together to show support with club members and supporters alike.
“It was a pleasant surprise when more people came than expected,” Erdemir said. “It’s a great club for a good cause.”
