As the school year closes, one of the most special events of the school year for seniors is getting closer and closer, which is prom. Seniors have high hopes for the upcoming event.
“I will be going with my date,” senior Azucena Figueroa said. “It’s sort of like a quadruple date, and we will be going with a group of friends.”
Figueroa has a simple wish when it comes to how she would like her date to ask her out.
“I would want a promposal with a Cinnamonroll plushie and coffee boba,” Figueroa said. “My date hasn’t asked me yet, but he will. I think he’s going to do a poster.”
Some seniors have already started going out to prepare for prom with their date, shopping for clothes and preparing gifts.
“I’m going with my girlfriend,” senior Victor Almanza said. “We’re both wearing green. I’m going to wear all black and a green bow, and she’s going to wear a green dress. I rented a tuxedo somewhere on Highway 6, and she bought her dress at a mall.”
For some seniors, they believe it will take a while to finish preparing for the big night.
“I just found out what website I’m getting my suit off of,” senior Syed Haider said. “I still have to go get my measurements done and get it all tailored and all that stuff.”
Many guys have special plans in mind for their date.
“I’m gonna get her some flowers and chocolate with a little sign,” senior Oliver Coleman said.
Additionally, seniors have many expectations before prom.
“I want to get my new car before prom so I can take some pictures of it,” Haider said.
Although prom is an exciting experience, seniors admit there are some feelings of sadness tied into it as well.
“I think I’ll be happy because of the music, the food, but I’ll also be sad because it’s my last year here,” Almanza said.
Several seniors have fun activities and trips planned for after prom.
“After, I plan on going to an Airbnb in Galveston with my girlfriend and my friends,” Almanza said. “I plan on renting the house.”
Although every senior’s experience with prom is different, many of them can agree that it is a fun and exciting experience that many students look forward to during their time in high school.
