Promposal Do’s and Don’ts
Creating the perfect promposal has become just as important as scoring the right outfit and date. What was done two generations ago with a simple question has now evolved into the extravagant charade as promposals.
As they continue to grow in popularity, it’s important to remember promposal etiquette, or the Do’s and Don’ts for your ideal promposal.
The Do’s
Promposals are a fun way to showcase your creativity and make someone you care about smile; so do something unique. You only go to high school once, so it’s worth the extra effort to make special events memorable.
With that being said, remember to stay cheap. A new study by Visa shows that the average promposal costs $324. There is no need to spend that much money on the invitation, save it for the dance! It’s the thought that counts…
If you plan to ask during school, you should ask an administrator for permission beforehand. Otherwise, no one is prepared for the big commotion and things can get out of hand very quickly. Your invitation should cause as little disruption as possible.
The Don’ts
The first and most important thing to remember is that you should not be annoying. Sometimes, what one thinks is a cute- someone else thinks is obnoxious. Less is more.
Don’t assume your guy or gal is obligated to say yes because you made a big scene. If you are concerned about rejection, ask in a more private setting, or suggest the idea before the production.
And lastly, don’t go to Prom lonely. If all else fails, call up your closest group of friends and spend the event with them. No one ever said you had to have a date in order to attend. So have fun and good luck!
