Lacrosse Playoffs

The lacrosse team advanced to another round of playoffs. In the seven years lacrosse has been at our school this is the first time the Lobos made it to playoffs.

“Lacrosse started as a small sport and the fact we even made it to playoffs is unbelievable, I’ve been playing for the team since my freshman year and we weren’t that good, so we thought the only way we would make it into the playoffs was as a wild card,” senior Tate Dyer said.

Lacrosse has grown a lot in Texas over the last eight years. Making playoffs has shown how much the team has grown.

“Lacrosse still isn’t well known,” senior Austin Thompson Said.  “There are still people who don’t even know lacrosse is a sport, but it has grown from when I first started.  The school used to not be so good the first few years and now we’re in the playoffs.”

Lacrosse has given players something to look forward to at school. This sport has given the team a reason to stay in shape and keep their grades up.

“Lacrosse takes a lot of skill, time and practice and if you’re failing there will be a lot of running for you at the next practice so wise advice from someone who’s been playing since a freshman, just don’t fail,” Thompson said.

Although lacrosse is considered a club and not a UIL sport at school never the less,  it still has the same expectations and follows the same rules as if it was a recognized sport.

“I’m thrilled we made it into playoffs and actually advancing, Lacrosse is a real sport even if it’s not recognized as an athletic sport here at school, but I feel since we’ve become so good as a team other students will recognize us and would like to join if they’re up for the challenge,” Dyer said.
