Tunes Review: Taylor Swift

Taylor Swifts Album Cover for Reputation

Taylor Swift’s Album Cover for Reputation

Taylor Swift has become extremely controversial over the past few months, and her album has raised many different opinions. Some people love her to death, but a lot of other people have openly lashed out at her on social media for various reasons. (list these reasons?)

Swift’s album, Reputation, has unexpectedly sold over 1.05 million copies in less than a week, and it has become the top selling album of the year. Despite rousing a lot of hate, Swift has also managed to stay relevant ever since her first country album came out, Taylor Swift, in 2006. She also still continues to sing about her love life and even brings up some of her celebrity feuds with Katy Perry and power couple, Kimye, in her album.

Swift’s more upbeat “edgy” songs can come off as a bit annoying, yet super catchy. I found myself humming to some of her songs throughout my day. One of these more edgy songs are Look What You Made Me Do.

The songs I personally favored were the ones that carried sweet, mellow tunes, like the song New Years. These types of songs reminded me of some of her previous songs like Wildest Dreams.

I was expecting to give Swift a low rating, but her album actually exceeded my expectations, so I would have to give her a 7 out of 10.
