You probably never heard of him but senior Ahmad Young Jr. is blowing up in the track recruiting process. Knowing that he plays football and runs track, you wouldn’t know which one he loves more. He puts equal amount of work into both sports, but track is most definitely his number 1.

“It was difficult at first, but I got the hang of it and rearranged my schedule. I just go to football practice right after school and then after football practice I go straight to track practice,” Young said.

All the athletes for any sport have a reason to why they go so hard at what they do and have something to be motivated by. Ahmad’s reason for him to go as hard as he can is top of the line.

“I go so hard because everybody is sleeping on me, they just overlook me and dont take me serious because I play football, but track is my first love. My family is my motivation, they always have my back and tell me to keep pushing and to keep God and faith,” Young said.

Right now this spring season is when all the offers and signings and things like the recruiting process happen, Ahmad seems stressed about it but says he is handing it over to the man above.

“Its so stressful because it’s so much going on and we have deadlines to sign to where we want to go. I want to go somewhere where the education is really good, where I can feel comfortable and have a good college career, but I’m handing everything over to God and letting him guide me to the right spot,” Young said.

Track offers are different from football and Ahmad only has offers for track. He doesn’t know exactly where he is going but he knows what schools are really interested in him. Ahmad has been going on visits more often recently in the last few weeks.

“Track is different from other sports when it comes to recruiting, they don’t just offer us, if we tell them we want to go there we have to see how much money they will give us. Right now I can go to UTSA, La Tech, Kansas, West Point, Meridian Community College, and now I’m talking to Iowa State,” Young said.

Ahmad Young Jr. is one track star y’all should keep your eyes on, this recruiting process sounds like it’s the most stressful thing in the world, but Ahmad is doing everything he can to finish the process and will be announcing where he will be attending by April 11th.
