Cheerleading tryouts

Cheer tryouts are coming up for the 2022-2023 season. The cheer team will be holding tryouts for all teams in the upcoming weeks.

The process is a whole week and all days will have different activities to learn.

“Each day we will learn different things,” junior Floyd Watkins said. “Like one day will be routine, another will be the cheer and another would be stunts.”

A comforting thing to know is that you don’t have to have any experience in cheerleading to try out.

“You don’t have to come in with any knowledge, ” senior Kylie Galvin said. “You will learn the basics at the tryouts.”

Cheerleaders already on the team have to try out every year, so they understand how the first time tryouts feel too.

“I was really nervous for my tryouts cause I feel like I didn’t fit the “cheerleading stereotype,” Galvan said. “But since being on the team I realized you don’t have to be a certain personality type to be a cheerleader.”

Cheerleaders just want people to have fun and to get a new experience from tryouts.

“Just be confident and be yourself,” Galvin said. “Be nice to everyone and just try to have fun through it all.”
