Bailadoras Take 2nd in Nationals
The Bailadoras competed in Nationals this past Saturday with social and dance officers taking home national grand champions. The team overall received runner up grand champions as well.
“I actually started crying so much I couldn’t stop,” captain Ellie Eugenio said. “It felt surreal and I was just so proud of our line and hard work.”
The team had placed highly at local and regional contests in order to get them at the nationals in Galveston, though the days leading up weren’t always simple.
“I think [the hardest part was] turning on the mindset that ‘we have to get this done’,” social coordinator Isabella Carrillo said. “We do it for the seniors and stay consistent with our mindset.”
Though anxious, they still found the whole competition and placement to be rewarding.
“My favorite part was hearing the announcer say that both officer lines won and looking to the audience to see all of our parents standing and cheering,” 1st lieutenant Kylie Jones said.
