Homecoming King and Queen

2016 HC Queen Chloe Powers, 2015 HC Queen Kennedy Cook and 2016 HC King Bejon Iscandri.

The sound of chanting and screaming filled the air at the homecoming football game Friday night. The crowd cheered on the nominees as they walked across the field during half time.

Principal Hughes gave a descriptive synopsis of each nominee’s accomplishments in their many activities and why they had been chosen for this opportunity. The participants ranged from football players, Bailadoras, band members and individuals dressed in their best attire.

After the last contestant walked on field the crowd fell silent as the moment for the big announcement drew near.

“This year’s homecoming king is… Bejon Iscandri,” Hughes said.

The crowd roared and many rose up from their seats to applaud the young man. The smile on his face was priceless. The reigning Homecoming Queen of 2015, Kennedy Cook carried the crown and placed it on Iscandri as he bowed to receive it.

“If I win, basically the whole band wins because they’re my family,” Iscandri said.

Next came the announcement for Queen.

“And this year’s homecoming queen is… Chloe Powers.” Parents, students as well as her Bailadora family went wild. Powers walked across the field to be crowned, making sure to keep her Bailadora hat in place, not breaking uniform, even as Cook greeted her and carefully placed the crown on top.

The two newly crowned royalty friends came together for a picture to capture the lasting memory.
