Girls Soccer Blue Bell Invitational

Girls Varsity Soccer kicked off their 2017 season at the Blue Bell Invitational Tournament January 5-7. The girls played against teams from all over the Houston-Austin area and got the opportunity to compete with teams they had never played before. It wasn’t a bracketed tournament, but the team walked away with an impressive 3-1 record.

“I felt like the tournament was competitive overall,” Head Coach Bueno said. “We showed up and played every game with the intention of showing what we have to offer.”

This season, the Lady Lobos are a mixture of youth and experience bringing back five seniors: Brittany Harris, Jade Dewbre, Stephanie Cortes, Pamela Fonseca (Captain) and Sara Batiste (Captain). On the defensive end, the Lady Lobos are led by Sarah Montalvo (Captain) and Erin Kelley who saw action in all games.

“The Lobos attacking side is always ready to go and has been reinforced with some new faces,” Bueno said. “Of those new faces, sophomore Amy Pineda is making her return after an early season injury last year.”

The girls practice every day strengthening their skills on the field and trying to grow as a team and as individuals.

“To be honest, I think there is a strong chance we’ll go to playoffs this year,” sophomore center defense Erin Kelley said. “District 17-6A is known to be a challenging one and we are up for challenge.”
