This year’s Mr. Lobo event drew a full house to the auditorium Saturday evening. After a close competition, the judges narrowed it down to the final five- Dean McLennan, Micah Oevermann, Allen Silagan, Ryan Siwald, and Connor Stiles. Silagan walked away with the crown.

“I decided to do Mr. Lobo because I wanted to represent the choir program and the school’s diversity,” Silagan said. “I was shocked when they announced me as the winner.”

Each of the boys modeled swimwear, formal wear, and got to perform a talent of their choice. Some kept it serious, while others got silly. Silagan’s talent was a self- choreographed dance that told a story from his first day of school as a child to his graduation day. It included voiceovers from his mom and Principal Mr. Hughes.

“I really wanted to step out of my comfort zone and make a performance that reached out to and connected with each individual in the audience,” Silagan said.

The show might have been funny, but practice was no joke. All of the contestants and their escorts started practicing once a week for 3 hours, 2 months prior to the show!

“It was difficult to get everything together,” Silagan said. ”But since I was excited for this project, I actually did enjoy the extra hours of planning, editing, and choreographing.”

Students, teachers, and parents all loved the entertainment.

“This was my third time going to Mr. Lobo,” sophomore Brock Eiermann said. “I think it gets better every year.”

Mr. Lobo continues to be a popular senior tradition at Langham Creek. It brings the senior class together, while raising money for their prom in May.

“I did it because I wanted to make the most of my senior year,” senior escort Haley Hughes said. “I wanted to support all my friends and make as many memories as possible before we go our separate ways. It’s also a huge fundraiser for our Project Prom.”
