Each season brings new talent, and this year, Briella Davis has made an unforgettable first impression on the track. As a freshman, she has already shown determination, resilience, and a passion for competing that sets her apart from the rest. Even though she has gone through challenges with being a freshman going against older opponents, Davis explains that “it has only made me a stronger runner.”
Competing in the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles, she continues to grow with every race. So far, “I have accomplished getting my personal record for 15 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and 45 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles” Davis said. Her commitment to improving and her positive attitude make her not only a strong athlete, but also a valued member of the team.
One of her coaches, Coach Davis, expresses how truly blessed she is “to coach Briella, and how excited I am to see all of the progress she can make for the next four years.” While having to coach her daughter can be rough, it is an experience she would never give up and can’t wait to see what is in store for her for the next three years.
A supportive teammate Gianna Gordon tells us first-hand how Davis is, “pretty energetic, super sweet, and a very hard worker.” She constantly brings positive energy to every practice and meet, encourages others around her while pushing to improve herself. Her dedication and uplifting spirit makes her such a strong and valued teammate on and off the track.
Davis explains that Coach Mohammed has been a very influential part of the season by “pushing me on long distance days, and he just really knows what he is doing.” All of his guidance and experience have helped her grow stronger both physically and mentally, giving her the confidence to compete at a higher level. Through his constant encouragement and dedication, he continues to push her, helping her become the best athlete she can be.
As she looks ahead to the rest of her high school career, there’s no doubt that Briella Davis has a bright future, and this is only the beginning.
