“21st Century Vampire” Singer LILHUDDY

With the increased impact of Tik Tok on the music industry, comes the rise of tomorrow’s biggest artists. Pop-punk artist LILHUDDY is next up on the brink of his rise to fame.

LILHUDDY or Chase Hudson was born in Stockton, California on May 15th, 2002. He quickly garnered up attention by posting videos on the lip-syncing app Tik Tok. He later got signed to Interscope Records to pursue his music career.

Hudson drew inspiration from the likes of Blink-182, My Chemical Romance, All American Rejects, 5 Seconds of Summer, Black Sabbath, and Micheal Jackson and all of those influences can be heard on his debut album Teenage Heartbreak. The opening track with the same name of the album prepares the listeners for the album that is the epitome of a teenage heartbreak from the perspective of Hudson. This album comes after his public breakup with another famous Tik Toker, Charli Damelio.

On his track Don’t Freak Out, Hudson got to work with some of the artists that influence his music most. The Track features drummer Travis Barker from Blink-182 features alongside Tyson Ritter from the All American Rejects and rapper Iann Dior. Don’t Freak Out actually samples the All American Rejects top hit Gives You Hell and puts a modern day Gen Z twist on the pop punk anthem.

On the slower and more somber side of the album, the track America’s Sweetheart is an simplistic acoustic song where Hudson goes into detail about his breakup with Charli D’amelio and the darkness that followed with it. With lyrics such as, “Everything I touch always seems to break/ I get so depressed when I hear your name,” that explains the turmoil the breakup left him to its full extent.

Overall, Teenage Heartbreak is filled with absolute teenage angst that anyone can relate to after their first breakup. For a debut album, each song is fully cohesive with each other and you can definitely tell he’s found his style musically. He’s bringing pop-punk back for a whole new generation.
