To Clown or Not to Clown?

To Clown or Not to Clown?

Everyone remembers the clown scares last year. People dressed up in costumes and makeup to stand eerily on dark street corners, staring down anyone unfortunate to cross their path. But that was a year ago. And this year, we have IT. A new horror flick based on Stephen King’s famous 1,138-page novel about a group of misfit kids and their dealings with a killer clown.

Now bearing these in mind, should you dress up like a clown this Halloween? There are very mixed opinions.

“I would for sure dress up as a clown. Just because I love egging on the conspiracy theories,” sophomore Sarah Dao said.

This is a more extreme example. For the most part, people just aren’t bothered.

“Clowns don’t appeal to me,” Essence Knight said. “Not scared of them, just not interested in them. I say people should just do whatever they want as long as they’re not disturbing anyone else.”

The new IT movie gives people a chance to dress up as a more specific clown with a more distinct look. This has the benefit of distinguishing yourself from the clown scare of 2016 (if you wanted to).

“Personally, I wouldn’t. I don’t like makeup. And for other people, as long as it looks like they’re dressing up as a clown from IT, and it not from that Clown scare. That’s just in bad taste,” Molly Hammer said.

But whether or not you think dressing up as a clown for Halloween is a bad idea or not, every costume has the potential of greatness on Halloween. So get out there and show off your costumes!
